Bordon and it’s Planned Eco Town

Bordons Cultural Significance

Bordon Camp was home to the Canadian Army during both of the world wars and the town is dotted with concrete slabs on which tanks and armoured cars were parked. Bordon is now home to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, providing trade training; both basic and supplementary, to its soldiers

The reason Bordon stood out to me as a strong story in its plan for an eco town is because of what it will be leaving behind. I am sure the pride and history of the army being based in Bordon will never be forgotten but it seems a shame to be getting rid of it all, however the planned eco town has been said to be creating thousands of jobs and potentially a job for each house they are building so it isn’t all doom and gloom. It will be beneficial to a lot of people and families in the area.
